Roles, rights and privileges of WordPress users

WordPress uses a concept of roles, designed to give the website owner the ability to control what users can and can not do on the site.

A site owner can therefore manage user access to tasks such as writing and editing articles, creating pages, the definition of links, create categories, moderate comments, manage plugins, managing themes and management of other users, assigning a specific role to each user.

Who has the right to What About WordPress?

• Administrator: Access to all features of the WordPress administration
• Editor: Can publish and manage pages as well as those of other users
• Author: Can publish and manage their own items only
• Contributor: Can write and create their own articles but may not publish
• Subscriber: Can only manage their profile

When WordPress installation, an Administrator account is automatically created. The default role of any new user can be set via Settings> General.
