Plugins are an important component of the success of WordPress, there are thousands to date, some are good (see: Plugins required ), others less so, some are paid ( CodeCanyon ) and other free ( Free Plugins ).
The Jetpack Plugin That Boosts Your Blog
When Automattic (founded in 2005 by Matthew Mullenweg, which develops and distributes among other WordPress ) launches a plugin, you must be interested !Automattic has launched in 2011, the Jetpack plugin, designed to bring all sites using WordPress ( regardless of the server they are hosted ), some features previously available only to users of WordPress.com.
The idea of this extension is to provide the benefits of WP.com ( no maintenance to do, continually adding new features) WP users who have chosen to host their own site, and thus avoid certain tasks laborious. Jetpack thus connects your installation server infrastructure WP.com.
I confess that I have not convinced the first time I found it too heavy and not very interesting plugin. The latest version has radically changed my opinion.

As you can see, the list of features added by Jetpack is simply awesome! In my opinion, the most useful features are:- Detailed statistics to circumvent, in part, the "not provided" in Google. Inbound links / outbound, the most viewed pages, outbound clicks, etc.. Very comprehensive and useful;)
- Management comments via social networks (beware, this is not working on all premium themes)
- The option to subscribe by email to any publication of the blog or responses comments section (with simple check boxes)
- Automatic URL shortening all the links on your blog with WP.me service, although useful for social sharing
